The youth from our stake went to Nauvoo for Youth Conference this summer. Howard and I decided that we wanted to go along and take Nathaniel and Isabella. Alexander and Joshua rode the bus with all the kids from the stake and we drove in the car. We were able to visit many sites together, starting at Liberty Jail.

We had a wonderful tour of Old Nauvoo, visiting many old homes, the brick yard, the blacksmith shop, and taking in some darling plays.
I fell in love with the caption on this statue in the Women's Garden. We all know who rules the home :)
If you can not read this.... It says,
" My son, keep thy father's commandments, and forsake not the law of thy mother." Proverbs 6:20
While touring Old Nauvoo, we got to experience what the life was like during this period. Nathaniel played some of the games the children would have played. We even took a wagon tour. What a step back from all of our electronic devices.
Isabella had a wonderful time dressing up and playing in a log cabin playhouse.
We ended our trip at Carthage Jail where the Prophet Joseph Smith was martyred.
Even though our transportation was separate, we had a remarkable time learning more church history, and actually standing in the places the prophet once stood. The biggest highlight for me was by far attending the Nauvoo temple. Alexander and Joshua were able to do baptisms for the dead, with their father baptizing them.
